Overview

I put together this kit to maximize the quality you can get from a minimal budget. As a music video creator, I know how rough it can be to get a smaller budget and still want to make something that's meaningful – this kit solves that problem.

Sony FX30: This camera may be small, but it packs some of most professional features at a fraction of the cost of similar models! UHD 4K up to 120 FPS, 10-Bit 4:2:2 internal recording for great color grading, Dual Base ISO for great low-light performance, and spot-on Phase Detection AF makes this camera one of the best for the price.

Sony 35mm f/1.8 OSS: This fast prime lens is just flat-out incredible and extremely versatile. Aside from 35mm being my favorite focal length, this lens has a maximum aperture of 1.8 which makes it great at creating separation in your shots and is a good low-light option. With OSS built into this lens it also gives you a bit more stabilization if you want to get handheld shots.

Sony 10-18mm f/4 OSS: An ultrawide zoom lens like this offers a lot of variety in the shots you can get for a project. Having a fast prime and a zoom covers you for 95% of situations you may be in while filming a project. This lens is great to pair with the APS-C sensor of the Sony FX30.

Aputure Light Dome II: This softbox turns a really small light source like the Amaran 60X into a professional-quality light with ease. I love this softbox because it features a quick setup and breakdown system, no individually attaching or removing the internal rods.

Matthews C+ Stand: Safety is always a priority on set and these stands are just solid and give you the confidence you need when shooting.

Amaran T2c: This light is a great accessory that can become the key when you're on the move. I love the small footprint of having a light like this – it makes it extremely easy to get into spaces bigger light sources can't. This light also offers full RGB, which can make for some really cool music video looks.

Manfrotto 502AH Head/055XPRO3 Tripod Kit: I've grown to love a solid tripod and this is just that. When focusing on getting pleasing compositions and smooth movements, this works like a charm.

Extras: Having enough storage and an extra battery give you the confidence on set that you'll be able to capture what you need.
