Laowa vs Standard Macro Lenses

The Laowa has a 2:1 magnification ratio while still encompassing a wide 84° angle of view. Being able to capture both your very small subject and its surroundings in one scene is a unique opportunity for nature and product shooters. The deep f/14-f/40 aperture range offers a much greater depth of field when compared to standard macro lenses. You're able to focus very closely to your subject while still getting most of the background in focus.

Unique Build Benefits

The long barrel is useful for documenting habitats and the insides of products for compelling results without having to be too close to the subject. For video, capture fun "slide in" shots in areas normally much too narrow for average lenses. What's more, the front barrel of this lens is completely waterproof so that you can capture fish between rocks or the inside of a glass as something is poured into it. The 20mm diameter lens tip is small enough to not completely overshadow a small subject, making lighting a tiny object much easier. The lens comes with a built-in LED ring light. Please note that to operate the built-in LED on this lens you will need to use an external USB power source.

Attach this lens to any EF or EF-S mount Canon camera (or to the EOS R with an adapter). It is designed to cover up to a standard full frame 35mm sensor.
