Overview

The Sony PXW-FS5 II improves on its predecessor with expanded recording capabilities, a more sensitive sensor, and faster readout speeds. Sony modeled the FS5 II's colors after their world-leading professional VENICE cinematography camera, delivering an incredible cinematic look to its footage.

Recording Capabilities

To an external recorder, you can output continuous 4K raw at 60 FPS, 2K raw at 240 FPS, or even do a 4-second burst of 4K raw at 120 FPS. For internal recording, enjoy Quad HD 4K (3840 x 2160) at 29.97p, 25p, or 23.98p at 100Mbps, continuous recording of Full HD up to 120 FPS, or an 8-second bust in Full HD (10-bit, 4:2:2) up to 240 FPS! Frame rates of up to 960 FPS are possible at certain settings.

4K Sensor and New Color Science

In addition to 14 stops of exposure latitude and high-speed full-pixel read-outs, the FS5 II includes the color technology found in their high-end VENICE camera. It softens skin tone, exhibits more natural-looking highlights, and has a more cinematic look overall. Separately, you can opt for one of two powerful HDR workflows which give you as much data as possible for ultimate post-product flexibility.

Modular Design

The FS5 II is designed to be customized to meet your shooting style. The 3.5" LCD can be attached in 9 different locations. There are 1/4"-20 mounting ports on the handle, top, and bottom of the body to support just about any mounting configuration. The dual SD cards will record simultaneously or in relay mode. Two XLR connectors one on the handle and one on the body are provided for simple connection of mics and other accessories. The built-in electronic variable ND filters are a handy feature for expanding depth of field capabilities. Clear Image Zoom enlarges the image by 200% in Full HD and 150% in 4K and works even when using prime lenses.
