Overview

The DJI Osmo Action is DJI's first action cam and supports many of the same features found in industry standards like GoPro but with a few unique features. Here are some of the standout qualities that make the Osmo Action a great choice for adventure recording:

Living the Action with Dual Screens

Frame yourself effortlessly with a front-facing 1.4" display that sits directly next to the ultrawide lens. This is paired with a larger, hyper-responsive touchscreen rear LCD for footage framing, review, and camera control. The camera can also be controlled remotely with the help of DJI's Mimo app or via one of five voice commands. The app features powerful editing tools, story templates, and other social media-friendly features.

Reliable Stabilization

DJI is known for their stabilization tools and have worked to bring some of that technology into their first action cam. RockSteady combines electronic image stabilization with some of their stress-tested algorithms for shake-free footage. It does this, in part, by increasing the shutter speed, analyzing what's coming into the CMOS sensor, and conducting careful edge trimming (resulting in about a 18-22% crop factor).

Powerful Customization Tools

Enjoy wide dynamic range from the sensor using a LUT-like setting that produces lower-contrast video with a flat profile for easier color grading in post processing. Use HDR video to dramatically enhance your dynamic range or take over completely with custom exposure settings that allow for up to 120 second exposure times a great option for night sky work. ISO ranges from 100-3200 for both stills and video. There is a built-in time-lapse mode and the option to use slow motion footage up to 240 FPS in 1080p. Store, list, and select your favorite modes using the Custom Mode feature, which supports up to 5 customizations. A QS button is available for fast alternating between screens, modes, and settings.

Ready for Anything

This action cam can be taken up to 36' under water and can handle cold temperatures down to 14°F. It's shockproof up to 5' and is designed specifically to reduce glare, distortion, fingerprints/smudges, and is oil, water, and salt repellent (however, it is strongly recommended that you rinse the Osmo Action in fresh water and dry it after using it in the ocean failure to do so may result in residual damage and a fee). It sports an efficient cooling system so that you can record for long periods of time. The battery lasts up to 2.5 hours.

The Osmo Action packs high-quality 4K/60FPS footage up to 100Mbps onto convenient microSD cards up to 256GB capacity (cards not included) all inside a small, rugged package. It is ideal for adventurers, sports shooting, vacations, vlogging, and all kinds of first-person-perspective footage.
