Overview

The Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8L is an updated version of the classic Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8 lens. It offers more nuanced tilting and shifting control, a more true-to-life magnification ratio, greater contrast, and better color rendering. All of this earns the lens a professional "L" designation of superior Canon Luxury quality. Control knobs have been enlarged for faster, more tactile control while new locking mechanisms keep your rotation and tilt positions exactly in place. The increased shifting range is better at eliminating converging lines while the enhanced tilt range is better at establishing a very specific plane of focus (the prior model enables a parallel shift of the optical axis by ±11mm and a focal plane tilt adjustment of ±8° this model is equipped with a shift of ±12mm and a tilt of ±10°). You can also use this lens without tilting or shifting as a normal short/medium telephoto lens with a maximum magnification of 0.5x, which is well suited for capturing small objects (but note that there is no autofocus function). This version also has a superior focusing distance of only 16" (vs the prior's 19"). The broad f/2.8-f/45 aperture range, especially at the upper end, lends itself well to macro work where the depth of field is extremely thin. This lens pairs very well with high resolution EF mount cameras.
